It’s used to control earthing continuity during filling of tank trucks and tank trains.These tankers normally arrive electrostatically loaded, and an imperfect earthing might cause fire originated by a spark in presence of Gas.The earthing control system is composed of a marine grade copper free aluminium enclosure, fitted with the earthing control electronic circuit. The control unit allows tank loading/unloading when the resistance is less than a previously set value (normally 20 ohm). An internal intrinsically safe barrier grants the connection of an intrinsically safe cable gland to an earthing clamp.
Enclosure is provided with:
- red pilot light to signal NOT AVAILABLE
- green pilot light to signal AVAILABLE
- INSERTION push button
The red pilot light stays on until the clamp is fully connected to the vehicle earthing bar, and insertion push button is pressed for minimum two seconds. If the resistance measured by the electronic circuit is less than 20ohm, the green pilot light illuminates to indicate that it is safe to proceed with the loading/unloading operations.
An 8mt cable is normally supplied with the Earthing clamp.
