Fuses are the oldest and most traditional protection equipment in the
electrotechnical industry. Despite this, and thanks to the product's
technological innovation and specific characteristics, such as:
- low dissipated power;
- multiple operating classes (identified by two letters of the alphabet,
where the first letter stands for the operating class and the second letter
represents the object to be protected);
- high switching power;
- possibility of extremely easy selectivity in the most varied current
settings;
- high limiting effect of short circuit current;
- great operating reliability even after years of operation;
- constant intervention characteristics within high temperature variations.
Fuses are still the most common and reliable means, technically and
economically, in the field of protection.
