The Berri field, situated along the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia, is undergoing expansion through the Berri Increment Program (BIP) to increase its crude production capacity to 500,000 barrels per day (bpd). Initially discovered in 1964, the Berri field commenced crude oil production in 1970, with the Berri gas plant starting operations in 1977. Expected to possess a capacity of 230,000 barrels per day, the DUQM Refinery is an integrated project of national significance situated within the Special Economic Zone of Duqm (SEZAD). The 230,000 BPD Duqm Refinery stands as a crucial endeavor for the advancement of Duqm, the Al Wusta Governorate, and the broader Omani economy. With the goal of establishing one of the Middle East’s premier ports in the Duqm region, the Sultanate of Oman aims to capitalize on its strategic location along the Arabian Sea. Within this framework, this project serves as the primary driving force and facilitator for the subsequent development of a significant new commercial, residential, and touristic area in Oman.
