New Hydrogen Production Unit – Porto Marghera

The project aims at implementing two hydrogen production lines for the Venice biorefinery in Porto Marghera. Its primary objective is to increase the availability of hydrogen at the biorefinery to fulfill the requirements of the EcofiningTM unit in terms of quality, quantity, and availability, all while optimizing energy efficiency. As part of a phased transition to producing decarbonized hydrogen, these units are designed to significantly reduce the emission of fossil CO2 into the atmosphere by utilizing biogenic charges recirculated by the EcofiningTM unit.

PDH – Kallo Project

The upcoming propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant is set to be a major player, aiming for a production capacity of 750,000 metric tonnes per year, positioning it among the world’s largest and most efficient facilities. It is situated at an existing Borealis production site in Kallo, Belgium, chosen for its strategic logistical location and extensive experience in propylene production. Additionally, the selection aims to capitalize on synergies with the existing PDH unit.
