Scarabeo 5

The Scarabeo 5 is a semi-submersible offshore unit belonging to Saipem, originally designed as a 4th-generation drilling floater for exploration and production activities in harsh and subarctic environments. In 2023, Saipem was awarded a contract by Eni Congo to convert the unit into a Floating Production Unit — FPU for the Congo LNG Project. Once installed offshore the Republic of Congo, northwest of the Djeno Terminal, the unit will separate gas and liquids and compress the gas to feed a nearby FLNG unit.

Algeria JV Gas Project

In production since 2004, In Salah Gas is a joint venture between Sonatrach, BP and Statoil (now Equinor). It is Algeria’s largest dry natural gas joint venture and one of the country’s key gas export projects supplying Southern Europe. The project has a production capacity of approximately 9 billion cubic metres of dry natural gas per year from seven gas fields located in the central Algerian Sahara.

Petrobrazi Refinery

Petrobrazi, boasting an annual refining capacity of 4.5 million tons/year of crude oil, stands as one of Romania’s foremost refineries. It serves as a pivotal hub where crude oil undergoes processing, resulting in a diverse array of high-value petroleum products, ranging from gasoline and diesel to LPG and aviation fuel. Presently, Petrobrazi operates at exemplary environmental and performance standards, capable of refining the entire equity crude oil production of OMV Petrom. In a strategic move towards sustainability, the Romanian oil company plans to construct 55MW of green hydrogen projects at its Petrobrazi refinery, located 60km north of Bucharest. This initiative involves the installation of two electrolysers, one with a capacity of 35MW and the other with 20MW. The renewable hydrogen generated will be utilized in the production of bio-based sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and biodiesel, marking a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions in the aviation sector.
