The expansion and modernization initiative aims to significantly increase the refinery’s petrol production capacity, quadrupling it to 450 thousand tonnes per year. As a part of this project, the Combined Cycle has been revamped to utilize hydrogen generated by the new Platforming unit. Planned in phases, the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim LNG project will produce up to 10 million tonnes of LNG per year (Mtpa). A new drilling called Greater Tortue Ahmeyim-1 was carried out to a total depth of 4,884 meters in the eastern part of the Greater Tortue area, discovering 30 meters of net gas in a high-quality Albian reservoir in July 2019. This new discovery indicates the potential to expand the capacity of the LNG project beyond 10 Mtpa in the future.
