Petrobrazi, boasting an annual refining capacity of 4.5 million tons/year of crude oil, stands as one of Romania’s foremost refineries. Presently, Petrobrazi operates at exemplary environmental and performance standards, capable of refining the entire equity crude oil production of OMV Petrom. In a strategic move towards sustainability, the Romanian oil company plans to construct 55MW of green hydrogen projects at its Petrobrazi refinery, located 60km north of Bucharest. This initiative involves the installation of two electrolysers, one with a capacity of 35MW and the other with 20MW. The renewable hydrogen generated will be utilized in the production of bio-based sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and biodiesel, marking a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions in the aviation sector.

Planned in phases, the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim LNG project will produce up to 10 million tonnes of LNG per year (Mtpa). A new drilling called Greater Tortue Ahmeyim-1 was carried out to a total depth of 4,884 meters in the eastern part of the Greater Tortue area, discovering 30 meters of net gas in a high-quality Albian reservoir in July 2019. This new discovery indicates the potential to expand the capacity of the LNG project beyond 10 Mtpa in the future.
