The Assiut oil refinery in Egypt is undergoing a significant expansion and modernization effort to meet the rising demand for petroleum products in Upper Egypt. As part of the refinery upgrade, new facilities including a naphtha complex and a hydrocracking complex will be added. The project seeks to achieve two key objectives: reducing sulfur content in diesel, gasoline, and LPG fuels to a maximum of 50 ppm and increasing the refinery’s crude processing capacity from 65,000 to 95,000 barrels per day (BPD), allowing for the processing of heavy crude and conversion of residual products into marketable ones.
